AwaThe Boy Mirrd winning film director Phil Grabsky has raised over £1500 for the Afghan Appeal Fund running the Brighton Marathon.

Phil, who produced and directed ‘The Boy Mir‘ and ‘The Boy Who Plays on the Buddhas of Bamiyan‘, has been supporting two women in Northern Afghanistan through their teacher training course for the past 2 years to enable them to teach at a small school in Mir’s village where the girls cannot currently study past grade 4 due to the lack of female staff.

Delighted with the support he has received Phil said, “Some of these young girls walk 2 hours to school and 2 hours home every day – they are desperate to learn. I am really very grateful for the generosity of those who have donated in support of these two young women who are going to help change the lives of many Afghan girls.”
