School in Nuristan

Nuristan is a North Eastern province of Afghanistan. The village where the AAF school is being built must remain anonymous due to security. Village elders requested a British NGO working in the area for help in building a school, and donated land for the purpose. The Afghan Appeal Fund is providing the money to build the school and train 2 teachers. The 100 children in the village have been attending classes in the mosque, and cannot wait to start attending their new school.

Having previously built several schools in the area, the British NGO is employing the same local team to build this school in the local wood and stone style which has the great advantage of being earthquake proof.

Update Nov 2009: the windows are being put into their frames. We are hoping photos are to follow.
