Bob Graham Round

A British Army team from the Expeditionary Campaign Infrastructure (ECI) team based at MOD Abbey Wood undertook an arduous fund-raising event on 16th May 2009 and chose the Afghan Appeal Fund as one of their two beneficiaries.
The ten-man team attempted “The Bob Graham Round”, a unique challenge which originated in 1932 and involves running over 42 fells, spread over 72 miles in the Lake District, in under 24 hours; it is one of the most demanding tests of physical fitness that can be attempted by athletes or mountaineers.
Unfortunately, due to appalling weather conditions and several injuries, they did not quite achieve their goal. However, the team covered 64 miles and 40 fells which is an incredible achievement.

The team was provided with kit from leading outdoor equipment companies, as well as sponsorship from major suppliers of infrastructure to soldiers in the field. They have raised over £26,000 - their fundraising page can be found on the JustGiving website
We would like to pass on our thanks to the team and their sponsors, and congratulate them for their fantastic effort.
