Red Ball Run 2009
July 11-14 2009
Dr John Ross organised a leisurely off road motorcycle ride of friends on bikes from Chartres in France to the Dutch War Museum in Overloon near the German border. Entitled the Red Ball Run 2009, it raised over £900 for the AAF. Riders camped along the way or bivi-ed by the track.
The Red Ball Express operated in August and September 1944 and operated over 6,000 trucks ferrying supplies from St Lo and Chartres east to the rapidly advancing Allied front line. The Marshall Museum in Overloon has an exhibit on the Red Ball Express and the 1,000km in 3.5 days will finish there.
THANKS TO ALL WHO TOOK PART!
